Introducing the IMO. A new weighting innovation from Rife Putters. They've positioned 85% of the putter head's mass directly inline behind the ball giving the IMO very high MOI and incredible stability. This makes swinging on plane automatic. No pulls. No pushes. Just dead straight.

The final result is an all aluminum putter head with 85% of the total mass concentrated in the middle 40% from a front to rear direction. The sides are hollowed out underneath and only represent the remaining 15% of the heads mass. The USGA requires that a putter must be longer from a heel toe direction than from front to back. The IMO is right under this limitation, measuring 4.75" wide and 4.60" deep. By concentrating mass in the center of the putter, a golfer will naturally swing on plane. Also this center mass acts as a "ramrod" that continues thru impact which helps cure the #1 fault in putting...deceleration

The "IMO" in this putter's title stands for "Inline Momentum." The idea behind the Rife IMO Putter is to concentrate a large majority of the putter head's weight down the centerline of the head, behind the hitting area. Add a shaft placed to create a face-balanced butter, and you have a club the company claims helps create a very stable stroke that stays on plane.

All that mass behind the clubface, down the centerline, creates forward momentum on the stroke. That guards against deceleration. Hence, "Inline Momentum," or IMO.

Like all Rife putters, the IMO includes the RollGroove Technology — A ball sits in a slight depression on the green. This is caused by the weight of the ball and gravity. This creates a slight backspin until the ball hits the ground and the friction of the grass causes the ball to skip or skid before it begins its true forward roll. With RollGroove Technology the effects of grass grain on your ball are greatly reduced because the ball is not skipping or skidding (high friction) but rolling immediately (low friction) so your ball will hold the line better and your reads will be truer. Without the grooves holding the ball through the depression, the ball would slide up the face (like it does with a traditional flat face putter) losing energy and creating very inconsistent distance control.

IMO TRAINER CONCEPT:
Identical to the center portion of the IMO it has 100% of the head mass in a center elongated shape. It is considered “non-conforming” by the USGA because it has a heel to toe measurement that is less (2”) than the face to rear measurement (4.60”). It’s purpose is to allow a golfer to feel how easy it is to swing on plane when all the weight is on plane as well. As a training device it allows a golfer to focus on swinging naturally along the target line thru the ball to the hole. This virtually eliminates deceleration. The Trainer immediately explains the weight concept. We have found that, “The USGA has deemed this Trainer illegal because it is too easy to use. The IMO is the same putter but it’s legal. As you can see they have hollowed out the side wings so 85% of the weight is still lined up behind the ball.”
